Full Moon in Taurus

6 min read

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 9:11 pm PDT, the Full Moon reaches 2 degrees and 45 minutes of Taurus, with the Sun directly across from it at 2 degrees and 45 minutes of Scorpio. It arrives at that point in autumn when the evenings get dark early, the air smells like woodsmoke and wet leaves, and most of us start reaching for something warm to hold in our hands. Taurus is the sign of the five senses, and this Full Moon has a way of bringing us back to what we can touch, taste, keep and count, right at the moment Scorpio wants us to let something go.

A raven and a full moon

This Full Moon in Taurus Brings May's Seeds Into View

A Full Moon happens when the Sun and the Moon sit in exact opposition, on opposite sides of the zodiac. Whatever has been growing in the background becomes visible enough for us to see it clearly and evaluate it. That makes a Full Moon a time to look at what already exists and decide what to do about it, rather than a time to start something brand new.

To understand this Full Moon in Taurus, go back to the New Moon in Taurus on May 16, 2026, at 25 degrees and 57 minutes of Taurus. That was the seeding point for this lunar theme. Whatever you hoped to build, buy, save, protect or enjoy more fully around the middle of May, and whatever you told yourself you deserved to have, is now five months further along. This Full Moon shows you how it grew, where it stalled, and what it turned into that you did not expect.

The Shape of This Full Moon

There is a lot happening around this Full Moon, but most of it points back to the same few themes: what we value, what we hold on to, and who holds the power. At the center, the Sun and Moon face each other while Venus and Chiron form a second opposition right alongside them. Pluto presses on the Full Moon from Aquarius, the lunar nodes tie the whole picture to our growth, and two planets turn retrograde within days of each other.

The Core Axis: Scorpio Meets Taurus

Sun in Scorpio and Moon in Taurus: holding on and letting go

The Sun describes our identity and how we express who we are. In Scorpio, that expression goes inward and deep, and it is willing to strip something away entirely to get to the truth. The Moon describes our emotional needs and what makes us feel safe. In Taurus, safety comes through stability: a full pantry, a steady paycheck, a familiar routine, a body of work we can point to. When these two face each other, we feel the pull between keeping what is comfortable and releasing what has run its course. You might notice this in something as ordinary as a closet you keep meaning to clear out, or as big as a job that pays well but no longer feels like yours.

Venus retrograde: going back over old ground

Venus rules Taurus, which makes her the ruling planet of this Full Moon, and she is retrograde. On the morning of the Full Moon, she moves backward out of Scorpio and into the very last degree of Libra, the sign of relationships, agreements and fairness. When the planet in charge of a Full Moon is moving backward, it is a time to revisit rather than move forward. Old conversations about what is fair in a partnership may resurface. Someone from your past may reappear. A decision you made about what you are willing to accept in a relationship, at work or at home, may come back up for a second look.

Chiron opposite Venus: the old hurt and the relationship

Chiron points to the places where we have been hurt and where, through working with that hurt, we learn to help others. In Aries, the sign of the self, Chiron touches the wound of putting ourselves first, of being told we were too much or too selfish, or of never learning that it was safe to want something for ourselves. Opposite Venus in Libra, this plays out in our relationships. Maybe you notice that you keep giving in to keep the peace, and part of you is tired of it.

Maybe you finally say what you need and feel the old fear of being disliked rise up in your chest. This opposition brings the tension between "me" and "us" to the surface so we can see where we have been out of balance.

These two oppositions sit only a few degrees apart, so they tell the same story from two angles: what we want for ourselves, and what we are willing to give up to keep a relationship or a sense of security intact.

The Pressure Point: Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto squares both the Sun and the Moon very closely, putting pressure on the whole Full Moon. Pluto is the planet of power, control and what is hidden, and in Aquarius, it works through groups, communities, technology and the larger systems we belong to. This brings up questions of power: who has it, who is giving it away, and who is holding on to it a little too tightly. In everyday life, this might look like a team at work where one person makes all the decisions, a friend group where you always go along with the plan, or a moment where you realize how much of your time and attention you have handed over to a screen. With Pluto pressing on both sides, something that was hidden is likely to come out.

The Bigger Picture: Where This Is Leading You

The lunar nodes describe our direction of growth, and right now they connect directly to Venus and Chiron. The South Node in Leo points to what is familiar: being recognized as an individual, being admired, being the one at the center. The North Node in Aquarius points toward contributing to something larger than ourselves and finding our place in a community. Because the nodes are tied into the Venus and Chiron opposition, the relationship patterns and old hurts this Full Moon brings up are connected to our purpose. Working through them is part of how we move in the direction we are meant to go.

At the same time, Neptune and Uranus form a pattern pointing straight at the Sun. Neptune brings imagination and intuition, and Uranus brings sudden ideas and breakthroughs. Together they ask for an adjustment in how we see ourselves. You may feel that the way you have been presenting yourself no longer fits, even if you cannot yet put words to what should replace it. Because the Moon is in Taurus, that shift is likely to show up through something you can see and touch: a change in your daily routine, a decision about your home, or a shift in how you spend your money.

The Friction: Speaking Up Versus Thinking It Through

Mercury turned retrograde in Scorpio on October 24, one day before the Full Moon. Mercury governs how we think, communicate and make decisions, and retrograde in Scorpio, it goes back over what has already been said, signed or decided. Conversations you thought were finished may come back, and information that was kept from you may come to light.

Meanwhile, Mars and Jupiter in Leo square Mercury. Leo wants to act boldly, be seen and make big declarations, while Mercury retrograde in Scorpio wants to slow down and keep its cards close. You might feel the pull to post the announcement, send the email or make the big promise, while another part of you knows there is more to learn first. That second voice is worth listening to.

What This Means, Practically

This Full Moon opens a period of review rather than a period of big moves. Venus and Mercury both turn direct on November 13, so the next few weeks are a good time to revisit agreements, reconsider purchases, rethink how you spend your time and energy, and look at what your relationships are giving you and what they are costing you. If something comes to light in the next few days, give yourself permission to sit with it for a while before you respond. The tension in this chart does not have to turn into conflict. You can use it to understand yourself better and make decisions that feel aligned with where you want to go. By mid-November, you will have a much clearer sense of what to keep, what to release and what to build next.

Journal Prompts

  1. Think back to mid-May, around the New Moon in Taurus on May 16. What did you want to build, protect or enjoy more of in your life then? What has happened with it since, and what do you want to do with what you have now?

  2. Is there a relationship, at work or at home, where you keep giving in to keep the peace? What would change if you told the other person what you need, and what are you afraid would happen if you did?

  3. Where in your life does someone else make the decisions you could be making yourself? Is there something about who holds power in a situation, yours or someone else's, that you have noticed but have not said anything about? What would it cost you to say it out loud?
